At ISP, we’ve been helping children and young people in care heal from their past experiences for over 35 years.
We recognise that many children in foster care have had challenging early experiences, often resulting in trauma that affects their everyday lives.
While we can’t change their past, our therapeutic approach to foster care guides them towards healing and recovery in safe, supportive homes where they can begin to rebuild and grow.
As a foster parent, your dedication can transform young lives, and we’re here to ensure you feel confident, qualified, and appreciated with our holistic support package, which includes:
Therapeutic fostering isn’t just about opening your home; it’s about embracing patience, compassion, and a true understanding of the unique hurdles faced by young people in care.
We recognise the dedication this role requires, which is why we provide a generous fostering allowance and a range of benefits to enable you to concentrate on the well-being and progress of the children you support. Plus, as you grow in your fostering career, you can increase your allowance through our Senior Grade Pathway Programme.
As an ISP Derby foster parent, you’ll receive a range of valuable perks, including:
Our City & Guilds Therapeutic Pathway Programme equips you with the essential skills and insights to support children who have experienced turbulent childhoods. Our comprehensive training covers therapeutic parenting strategies you can weave into daily care, creating a foundation for meaningful change. We also work closely with you to build a personal development plan, ensuring you are prepared for every step of your fostering journey.
In addition to training, you’ll have the support of our team of therapeutic professionals, including in-house therapists and a trauma-informed network of professionals. They'll help the children in your care process the complex thoughts and emotions connected to their past experiences. And with our 24/7 support, you’ll always have guidance available, no matter the hour or scenario.
If you’re ready to create a safe, supportive home where children can begin to heal and rebuild, we’d love to hear from you.
Our experiences profoundly shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Positive experiences can help us feel secure, promoting confidence and encouraging us to explore life’s opportunities. In contrast, difficult experiences may teach us to see the world as unpredictable or even unsafe, prompting us to adapt our behaviour as a way to cope.
For many children in care, these early experiences have led to survival behaviours that continue to affect them today. Therapeutic foster care is about looking beyond these responses and helping young people understand that they are now in a stable, supportive environment. Here, they can begin to feel safe, rebuild trust, and start their journey toward healing and growth.
At ISP, we believe in fostering a supportive environment for our foster parents just as much as we do for the children in care. Our commitment is to provide the resources, guidance, and community you need to excel in your role.
Join us today to be part of a team dedicated to helping children move towards brighter, more hopeful futures.
