ISP Teynham receive ‘Outstanding’ from Ofsted

We are thrilled to share that our incredible team at ISP Teynham have been awarded their second consecutive ‘Outstanding’ in their latest Ofsted inspection.

ISP Teynham were commended on placement stability and keeping children and young people with foster families long term and creating an environment which allows ‘everyone to thrive and develop’ as well as supporting teenagers’ transition to adulthood and independence.

The Ofsted report said: “As children head towards adulthood, they know that they can continue living with their foster carers under ‘staying put’ arrangements if they wish. This gives children a choice about their future and the knowledge and confidence that carers will continue to support them.

Carers maintain contact with children and often support them long after they have left the foster home, due to the positive relationships that they develop.”

A whole team effort

The leadership and management of the agency was rated as outstanding in its own right, with the report stating: “The manager has excellent oversight of the agency and knows the children and foster carers well. Staff value the manager’s knowledge and feel supported and have full confidence in her decision-making.”

Alison Capp has been registered manager at ISP Teynham since September 2024, but has been within the organisation since 2018, she said: “At ISP we believe in a therapeutic approach, which means we provide bespoke care, tailored to our children and young people’s needs through an incredible team of professionals, from foster parents to therapists to education specialists to social workers.

Our foster parents are amazing people who work hard every day to transform the lives of children who have been through more than most of us could ever imagine, so this report is testament to them, their resilience and their dedication to make a lasting impact and help children overcome their pasts.

“Providing outstanding care to children and young people is a whole team effort and I’m so proud of our team and foster parents.”

Children at the centre

Ofsted added: “Foster parents are resilient and hold children at the centre of all they do. They understand children’s behaviours and how they relate to the trauma they have experienced in their lives. They allow children to express themselves through behaviour and help them manage difficult emotions. Consequently, children feel safe, allowing them to build on their resilience.”

Feedback from foster parents at ISP included: “Our fostering advisor advocates for both me and the children. I hope I get to work with her for many years to come,” and “We are lucky to have a great supportive staff team; I don’t think we would be able to do the work without them.”

We are immensely proud of this result, which is a testament to the outstanding work every single person within our community at ISP contributes towards making children’s lives better.

ISP Midlands Rated Outstanding by Ofsted

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that ISP Midlands has been rated Outstanding in our very first Ofsted inspection since registering last year.

This fantastic result is a testament to the dedication, compassion and commitment of our whole fostering community – from team members and foster parents, to the children and young people who inspire us every day.

Children at the heart

Ofsted praised the agency for putting children first in everything we do:

“Children are at the heart of this agency. They receive individualised, child-focused and nurturing care and support. Children grow up feeling loved and accepted and with a sense of belonging.”

One young person told inspectors:

“Now my life couldn’t be any better. I have grown to love unconditionally and have a life full of love and happiness.”

Support that makes a difference

Inspectors highlighted the outstanding support ISP foster parents receive through our therapeutic model:

“Foster carers are highly committed and dedicated. All foster carers undertake accredited therapeutic training… The therapists are highly skilled individuals who enable foster carers to help children flourish.”

New foster parents were also highlighted for the exceptional support they receive, with Ofsted noting our buddy system, support groups, and “family feel” across the agency.

Helping children achieve

Education was another area where ISP Midlands shone:

“A team of qualified teachers recruited by the agency works tirelessly… Children’s engagement, attendance and attainment in education are phenomenal given their starting points.”

Inspectors praised how quickly children are enrolled in school and the way our teachers and carers work together to make sure every child can thrive.

A family that makes us proud

Ofsted summed up our success by recognising the strength of our community:

“Managers, staff and foster carers all describe the agency as a family.”

We couldn’t agree more, and this Outstanding rating is a real reflection of the passion, resilience, and love shown by every member of the ISP Midlands family.

Pradeep Heera, Responsible Individual for ISP, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our team. This Outstanding result is a testament to the dedication of our foster parents and staff, who go above and beyond every day to give children the stability, care and opportunities they deserve.”
